Building Maintenance & Retrofitting

Old homes and buildings renovated for the future!  RIGHT!Watson Lake, Yukon Territory post modernisation retrofit!Watson Lake, Yukon Territory post modernisation retrofit!

I do building consultations and bring the knowledge of the Science of the North and the Canadian Building Code to the table when doing construction planning.

The Canadian Building code is the standard, open source for the world building code as we are (Canadian Builders) the best and I hold it second only  to the Wholly Bible and most high God Jehovah for my leadership and ways.

You want to upset me? Under mine it by skipping sections of the code, and thinking you are bright to be a cheaper builder then me!

I have earned my right to arrogance!  But I have bin there for the best and worst construction stories!  Ive seen flippers selling death traps they should go to jail for and I have buiilt many prefab condos and many single dwelling homes both small and up to 30 000sqf estate size projects.  I have had to fight, even selling my gear to give pay cheques to men and woman, when big shot developers take the favourite staff to vegas and blow $500 000.00 in a night and can't pay the workers who earned them the money!  Yep Ive seen it all! - even immigrants ya who disrespect me when I am happy to teach them, my Daddy was a good ,immigrant, he did things right, but a lot of people in Canada from hot areas who don't understand what 4 season means, are just ignorant to building construction in this land of extreme hots and colds.

I am shocked there are these online guys with millions of followers teaching guys how to burn down there own family houses by doing things wrong, even putting load points in bad spots  pinching wires and breaking plumbing pipes!

A house in Phoenix build like that, in the one year out of 100 that they get large snow!  Guess what, its gona burn down!  The walls are going to have hallucinogenic mould in them that will make you daughter stab your eyes out.  Don't come to my great country and think you got nothing to learn!   AND BIG BOX STORES AND THIS WEEKENDER RENOVATOR STUFF IS A JOKE -  ITS ON YOU FOR MARKETING THE IDEA THAT CONSTRUCTION ETHIC COMES IN TIM HORTONS DRIVE THROUGH SPEED LIFE EXPERIENCES IT DOESN'T.Watson Lake Medical Building after retrofitWatson Lake Medical Building after retrofit

I am the best!  You want to kill yourself come up here and build like Canadian Black mould doesn't exist! Will see how successful you are when you are dying from nero toxic poisoning!   Its bad, do not underestimate the un foreseen in my country!  Or you will die!

Call me I am an expert - almost 3 decades IN THE INDUSTRY I AM ONLY 39 - theory and on the tools!  The stuff I am seeing from the wannabees, guys from Africa, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and my lesser trade peers WHITE GUYS WANTIN TO GET RICH QUICK!  HAHAHA, THEY who have no respect for time apprenticing or in school THEORY - don't buy into the advertising of weekend contracting its very, very dangerous.  Ya Big Boxs, I got no respect for that "Fake News" marketing at all! Get rich quick in construction is not possible unless you are a crook!

Being a quality expert  I bring that discipline and knowledge to my construction project management, design and consultations.

The picture above is a medium building, the Watson Lake, Medical Building in the Yukon Territories.   It is dear to me because I both helped do the work there and was treated there after my fabled accident where I walked away from a work van collision with two Buffalo's on the Alaska Highway in Northern B.C.  The Buffaloes both over 1800 pounds each died that day, hallilou YA  I walked away - Thank you God for protecting me and having a purpose for my life.  I earned the name "Tatanka" Buffallo Killer from the Talatan Nations, my majestic, rugged Aboriginal brothers of the far North for that encounter  - I believe I set a world record for most Buffaloes killed, and walked away in any one vehicular accident!

This medical building here in has been retrofitted for efficiency lighting, heating, security, water proofing and strength, bringing a 20 some year old building up to date for modern Green construction the project ended in 2012.  In the High North I learned much about ice heaving, super cold where I even had my tempered heavy steal tools crumble like potato chips,  I leaned how to horde in and poor concrete for exposed foundations where the average day time temp is -30 Celsius and colder, and I learned more about the devistating dangers of misterious black Canadian mould!

In the North I was used by the Engineering teams as the Go to guy for decisions because of my knowledge of the North, and over 5 years as a building contractor  consecutively; summer, spring, fall and winter living -and being apart of many success stories including; residential, commercial,  medical building and civil project completions,

I acted as well as a literal construction trade engineer and medical doctor.   I diagnosed a couple of jobs in and around the time that a whole family in Whitehorse Yukon, Died of co2 poisoning.

One roof was so bad the roof was replaced for one contractor by another contractor team, and it still kept leaking! The leak got me on site cause the home owner couldn't get it done by my lesser, stamp it out peers.

The owner of the hose was a peer project manager from Japan, a good guy don't take me wrong, very smart, loved him, but he didn't have the relationship with Jack Frost as I did.  I new when I got on his freshly redone roof that I could take him if I was a crook.

No not mine or my heavenly Father or my worldly Dad's style, I am honest.

I very quickly fixed the leak for him in about 3 hours.  the leak was coming from a poorly built chimney stack, OK Ontario it would have been ok, but not the High North, it was not breaching the harsh heavy snow enough so I had to re tool it past where it was melting itself a damn where water was constantly freezing and thawing, and slowly encapsulating the chimney stack and then allowing CO2 to build up under neath the ice dome.  It was standard Canadian Code height, but for the way the drifting came down the harsh northern Rocky's on that particular roof it was not surface!

The leak saved his families lives, getting the attention for me to hope up and retrofit and doctor the damn thing, I got rid of the ice forming dam and extended the system and the hot co2 waste air now could go past the top of the drifting snow stopping as well the deadly co2 of the heating system from backing up and being trapped in the living space of the families home.

There are so many people driven by money that will kill their own customers.  Yep that is what happens when the Canadian Building Code gets short changed in the process to win bids - lesson here kids - NEVER GO WITH THE LOWEST BID OR ESTIMATE, NEVER IT IS ALWAYS WRONG no matter what size the construction is.

Imagine if the house wasn't even built to code?   Ya I am seeing from London, Ontario to Calgary to Whitehorse, Yukon people not using common sense, its really bad right now.  Evolving really?  Money is God over your own families and your customers safety? NO!

The bridge is another high north Job I was significant on, the big above was taken after the bad weather in the spring where we did some really crazy stuff to under pin working decks above ice flow!   Pretty good crew over all but it was Erik The Craftsman, and the Kaska Native Cheif who had the guts to dangle over the ice flow and pin in the fist materials of the under deck, you can see the South Lane coming from Alaska, towards B.C, just after I finished work and the forming was done.  This was a 100 meter bridge project.  The picture is a mid way project picture.

Below you can see the under deck that was both a working platform and also, another really key part of building retrofit and planning, that under deck was an environmental shield, the ministry of transportation took the time and spent the money to protect the fish and wildlife habitat - MONEY WELL SPENT on that building retrofit project.

These values I hod in my hand when doing construction on any level!  Money really sucks I know we are in a Capitalist society but I know the beauty of nature, man in 100 years of greed mongering on an industrial steroid level has decimated our natural habitats I would much rather have less money and a more suitable living earth, in essence we are going towards an environmental jail cell if our kids are sick all the time and we can't go out doors cause of pollution and poisons in the environment.  If your attitude is like mine then I am the craftsman to do your work.  At the end of the day when you think of the environment and occupants first your building project is going to be better, more valuable and last longer thus more money in your pocket at the end of the day.

Call me for pricing on building construction retrofits and efficiency up grades including homes and diverse buildings!
